Sri Lanka Vs India First Test Match India 399/3

India continued to score runs in the third and final session on Day 1 of the first Test against Sri Lanka as they posted 399/3 at stumps in Galle.

Shikhar Dhawan added 253 in 280 balls with Cheteshwar Pujara for the second wicket. The left-handed opener raced to his century in just 110 balls with the help of 16 fours.

Dhawan hit his career-best score in an exhibition of aggressive batting as top-ranked India took a firm grip on the game, with Dhawan backed up by Cheteshwar Pujara, who was 144 not out.

They had a partnership of 253 for the second wicket

The wickets of the top order batsmen were bagged by Nuwan Pradeep. Notably, among the five bowlers the hosts have used, Pradeep has been the most economic bowler, with an economy rate of 3.47.

Kohli was the last man to be dismissed after a successful review by stand in skipper Rangana Herath.

Umpire Bruce Oxenford shot down Sri Lanka’s appeal for caught behind and Herath chose to challenge the on-field not-out decision.
