Dinesh Chandimal & Upul Tharanga new Test and One Day captains
Twenty-seven-old Chandimal who has appeared for his country in 36 Tests was named as captain of the Sri Lanka Test side.
Likewise 32-year-old Tharanga has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Sri Lanka one-day and T20 teams
Chandimal served as Mathews’ deputy and led the T20 team in the past, while Tharanga led the ODI team when Mathews had been injured.
Taking over reigns Chandimal said he is prepared for the challenge that lies ahead.
